SAME Foundation 2025 Educational Impact Report

The Shakers and Movers Educational (SAME) Foundation, in partnership with RixonOC Management Consulting and Communications, LLC in the United States, has made remarkable strides in advancing educational access and opportunity for Ghanaian students in 2025. This collaboration, rooted in a shared vision of academic empowerment and global exposure, continues to transform lives through education—one student, one community at a time.

Program Overview:
In the first half of 2025, the SAME Foundation successfully advised and supported three Ghanaian master’s students, and one undergraduate helping them secure scholarships totaling USD 35,000 (approximately GHC 455,000) to pursue graduate studies in Turkey. This initiative represents more than just financial assistance; it embodies the Foundation’s mission to bridge educational gaps and foster global competence among Africa’s emerging leaders.

Through the technical and strategic guidance of RixonOC Management Consulting and Communications, LLC, the program offered comprehensive educational advising—ranging from academic placement and scholarship acquisition to intercultural readiness and leadership coaching.

Program Objectives:

• To promote access to higher education for deserving Ghanaian students through international partnerships.
• To develop globally minded scholars capable of contributing to sustainable development in Ghana and across Africa.
• To create a generational ripple effect by empowering students who will, in turn, inspire others within their communities.

The Hidden Dangers of Neglecting Your Teeth: From Cavities to Life-Threatening Infections

The average person goes about their day with the idea that they have to brush twice a day and is encouraged to see a dentist twice a year. This routine check is often downplayed by many, which later creates issues. Oral infections, namely dental caries and gum disease, are shared among the general populace. Dental caries can and does affect the young, and gum disease affects the much older population. Oral infections can lead to life-threatening situations.

Cavities form when food particles remain on the tooth surface, giving bacteria a buffet, especially at night. The initial cavity is painless, progressing to sensitivity and then full-blown pain. The bacteria now have access to the innermost part of the tooth, known as the pulp. Bacteria then thrive and cause further damage, leading to a dental abscess. This cesspool of infection spreads through the bone, between some sheets of muscle, and becomes dependent in and around the jaw and neck areas.

This condition is called Ludwig’s Angina. This is a medical emergency and is one of the few dental conditions that can send an individual to his or her deathbed. Presenting with the inability to eat, swallow, and sometimes breathe due to the pressure of the abscess on vital structures, the individual will appear emaciated and may need assistance to live. This condition is rather unsightly because the skin overlying the affected area tends to peel off, leaving patches with a rotten appearance and a fetid smell. This will require ward admission to administer intravenous fluids since the individual cannot eat or swallow their medications and regular debridement to improve the outlook if the infected skin surfaces.

Cosmesis is far from attained without possible skin grafts over the affected area. The scarring effect remains very prominent over the chest area in advanced cases. Ladies, the breasts are not spared in such occurrences, and the tissue in the region could be severely affected by this growing infection. This is the situation created by one life- threatening case, Ludwig's angina.

We must remember that it does start as a simple cavity, progressing to a painful abscess, and can quickly develop into this dire and fatal instance within the hospital setting. Fortunately, this is not common in averagely healthy individuals but occurs more in those who are immunocompromised and or are living with some uncontrolled chronic medical condition.

We are advised to take our teeth more seriously from this point on. We encourage you to do your annual visits and routine scaling to safeguard your oral health status for years ahead. Remember, your teeth are meant to last you a lifetime, so take good care of them.
