The Shakers and Movers Educational (SAME) Foundation was established in 2010 as a nonprofit organization with a mission to transform lives through education, mentorship, and community empowerment. Rooted in the belief that investing in young people, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, is key to creating lasting social change, SAME Foundation has become a beacon of hope for youth development and leadership.
Founded in the United States, the organization initially focused on supporting young African American males through workshops and community-based programs to foster personal growth, academic achievement, and social awareness, particularly in racial equity and justice. We later expanded to Jamaica, providing educational support, computers, scholarships, workshops, and financial assistance to Airy Castle Primary School students, particularly those from single-parent households, to matriculate into senior high schools.
In 2020, SAME Foundation was formally registered in the Republic of Ghana, expanding its reach to the African continent. Since then, SAME-GH has supported orphanage sustainability through various initiatives. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to selected orphanages during the COVID-19 pandemic and launched impactful partnerships, including a collaboration with the Rassam Initiative Team to organize the Ghana Youth and Politicians Dialogue 2020—a national platform connecting youth with presidential candidates ahead of Ghana’s general elections. Guided by the pillars of healthcare, education, mentorship, and holistic development, SAME Foundation catalyzes empowerment, resilience, and transformational leadership across Ghana and the African diaspora.
